Converting CSV format to QIF

One of my financial institutions provides transaction files only in CSV format and I'd like to convert them to QIF to import into Gnucash. Does anyone know of a conversion tool that doesn't require an in depth knowledge of scripting? I went to the Gnucash Wiki at

http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_How_do_I_convert_from_CSV.2C_TSV.2C_XLS_.28Excel.29.2C_or_SXC_.28OpenOffice.org_Calc.29_to_a_QIF.3F

and explored a number of references, but had no luck. The text describes a shell script using awk, but I have no idea what it's talking about. The CALC2QIF macro seemed buggy and also didn't have enough flexibility to accommodate the format of my institution - which is an investment entity, not a bank. I found several other online converters which seem to work fine if the format fields are very simple (e.g. date/credit/debit) but have no ability to accommodate more complex formats.

Is there anything out there I missed? Or is there a good source for picking up enough background to try one of the scripting solutions? I'm on Mac Snow Leopard and technically proficient but have never done any scripting.

Thanks,
Tom McAuliffe
