When setting up stock price downloads, GnuCash Help suggests that you need
to list the exchange (NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, OTC BB, Other OTC, etc.) in the
Security Editor.  I am not clear why I need to list the exchange of each of
my stocks.  I usually have to look it up, and I track a lot of stocks.  I
tried putting "Stock" in the "Type" field of the Security Editor and it
seemed to work fine after I added "Stock" to the Quote Editor.

 

Is there any reason I need to maintain the exchange in the "Type" field?
