reproducible crash

There's a 2.2.8 update (for Win32) that has these fixes in it.
Check the email archives for Andres' announcement of it.  I
don't recall if he sent it to -user or only to -devel.

As for when 2.2.9 will be out...  You'll have to ask Andreas.
