How to access last year's accounts

I want to look back at 2008, but can't figure out how. I can go to the ledger
and look at past transactions but I would like to load up all the 2008
entries so I can make reports. I have not found a menu item that allows me
to specify what dates I want to include. I'm' running version 2.2.6, on
Ubuntu's latest version.
