Transfer details not remembered

on a new transaction as i begin to fill the description field GnuCash
suggests a payee... if i select that payee and tab to the transfer field
GnuCash auto fills the transfer field w/details based on the last time I
used that payee.  Perfect behavior for my purposes.

can i get it to behave similarly for transactions imported (qfx/ofx) from my
bank... most of which are not scheduled or regularly occuring?  it seems
once the transfer field is populated (e.g. imbalance) even if i change the
gibberish payee name to one suggested by GnuCash it will not update the
transfer field.
