Hi,

Backup strategies and techniques could be considered off-topic for this list, 
but at the simple level, all you really need to do is put a copy of the 
datafile containing your accounting data in a safe place (you define "safe 
place"), and possibly also the .gnucash directory, which contains some meta 
data, like what tabs and reports are to open on startup.

Note that gnucash will create backups in your data folder on each save, and 
optionally at set time intervals.
