Equity doesn't balance against Assets-Liabilities after close

Hello.

I hadn't updated my accounts book in over half a year so I decided that
instead of adding hundreds of transactions I would just Tools->Close Book to
bring my expense and income accounts to zero. After doing this, and adding
correction transactions against an equity account to manually adjust my
assets and liabilities to their current values I noticed that my total
assets-minus-liabilities is almost two-thousand dollars more than my current
equity balance.

I've double checked and all of my income and expense accounts are in fact
at 0, so what can be causing this and how do I fix it? It's my
understanding that with 0/0 income/expenses the equity should be equal to my
total assets, less liabilities.

   GNUCash Version is 2.2.4.

Thanks.
