Mac OS/X Up and Gnucash startup errors

I ended up doing a "fink update-all" that brought my fink system up to  
date on everything, and now it's working and I'm a happy camper now.   
I'm a little reluctant to upgrade Xquartz, but I will do that too.   
Note that is not necessary to solve my problem.
