You should be able to do a netstat on the list server (if you can get to a shell) and see if there are connections to the multiple IPs. It could be that the list server is trying to be proactive and sending to all of the IPs. However, even if that is the case, Yahoo should be resolving that internally to a single message delivery.
I suspect the problem lies on both ends. I am subscribed to a couple of other mailing lists, but gnucash is the only one sending duplicate messages.

The first reporter sent me the message headers and the only differences
were in the last-hop received from. They were received "from
cvs.gnucash.org" to different yahoo.com MTAs about 10-15 seconds apart.
However looking at the GnuCash logs for that outgoing message I only see
one log message, and to an MTA that has multiple IPs. I do not see
multiple log messages, and I doubt there's multiple connections going
on... But the fact that there are messages through multipple yahoo MTAs
has me confounded.
