I think we are at cross-purposes, and seem to be going round in circles.
Perhaps it would be helpful to re-read the thread...

To summarise:

1) I wanted to be able to create a custom report (no problem!), and then
at some point make changes to the definition of that report and save them
permanently.

2) I was asked why I wanted to make permanent changes, and explained that
I may need to change the report to include newly created accounts.

3) I was asked why the default report settings don't work for me.

4) I explained.

5) You then told me that I can do what I want in the options.

Well, yes, I can, and I can save the result as custom report so I don't
need to keep changing the options.  Except that I do, 'cos I need to make
the report include newly-created accounts - goto 2) above... :-)
