transactions being imported in a different currency

Hi. I've been having problems with one particular account that I have. 
Whenever I download the transaction history from HBC's online service, 
it gets imported in USD and I am using CAD. therefore, gnucash is having 
problems computing how much i really owe because of the currency. i've 
tried replacing the currency of imbalance-usd, but the transactions 
still don't show up right. there were options to download the 
transactions in different formats and i chose quicken 2005 and above. 
others are quick books 2003+, MS money, qif an csv. I wonder what i 
could do to make this account flow as smooth as the rest. thanks.
