Reconcile Freezes GnuCash in Vista

I have been using Gnu Cash on Vista for several months now and haven't had
any issues.  Now, when I try to reconcile the program freezes and the only
way out is Task Manager and End task.  I have reinstalled 2.2.9 and even
tried the portable version with my user files.  No joy.

Why is Reconcile freezing the program and how do I fix it?

Any assistance appreciated.
