credit card - disputed transaction

is someone paying you, or are you paying someone?  I.e. are you disputing a charge you made, or are you disputing a charge a customer made to you?

How would others enter a disputed transaction on a credit card?
Because I can't finish the reconciliation, only store it for the future while 
the closing balance has not been reached.
