Hi,

there is book closing support, but AFAIK it does not remove old transactions, 
only zero your expense and income accounts to equity accounts.

If you Export Accounts, you should then FIle -> Open the resulting export file 
(not import).  Note that this export will just be the Chart of Accounts, you 
will lose things like scheduled transactions and Customers/Vendors etc.
