I should have called it "Gifts Received" and it is an Income account. 
(We also have a Donations account, but that is Expense and is for 
donations we make to other worthy causes.)

No. Income almost always goes into an Asset account; i.e., checking 
account, although rarely it goes direct to an expense account.

No. For gifts received, they are all under Income.
