I've found this really fascinating. I've spent at least 35 years doing
all this in my head. 
To run my business I need the assistance of the accountant (who has
helped with some really great simplifiers). I had to learn to do this
all in my head and on the back of envelopes as a long time ago personal
computers didn't do any of this.

Back in my student days there was enough for board and one other item
every week - petrol, new clothing, a text book - so budgeting was
simple.
It is an eye-opener to see how others plan.
