2.4.0 Running on Ubuntu 10.10, but not with Data Formats

2.4.0 is r19974M on 2010-12-23.  Using the Concepts Guide as my sole source for MySQL (http://code.gnucash.org/docs/guide/basics-files1.html#id3041290), I am not seeing the "Data Format" window ever change from XML.  Host, Database, User and Password boxes never come up and nothing else is available other than XML when clicking the box.

1) Anyone running MySQL on 10.10 with good dialog screens?
2) Is there project documentation on configuring any SQL backend with GnuCash?
