Hi,

What you describe sounds correct to me.

this is from my data file, about 50 lines in:
       <slot:key>gncInvoice</slot:key>
        <slot:value type="integer">10018</slot:value>

I know that I altered the invoice number sequence recently - the number stored
is that of the last invoice created.

Maybe don't recompress the data file once you have done the edit? (GC is happy
with plain XML)
Maybe notepad+++ causes an issue with Unix->Windows CR/LF or charset
encoding - try a different text editor?

HTH,
Maf.
