Problem locating Data File in Windows 7

Not an answer to you original problem, but 
C:\USER\USER NAME\.gnucash\Books\YOURFILE is a configuration file that is used 
when you open your data file. It's not your data file itself.

Did you try what Mike Leone suggested ?
