gnucash 2.2.9 fails configure for guile, looking for 1.6, cannot find guile, yet I have guile 1.8

  No, it was an rpm :-)  Not that bad about mixing tarballs and rpms :-)

  how to uninstall the rpm? sudo yum remove gnucash?

  How to install EPEL?

sudo yum install EPEL
