Unable to save to database

I am new to this list so I hope I am doing this right.  I keep getting a pop up error "Unable to save to database".  When it occurs it happens several times in a row.  It occurs at different points but usually when I am importing QIF files.  I don't loose any data though.  When I quit and restart all of my data is still there.  I am using version 2.3.7 on Windows Vista.  Is there a way to stop these errors form popping up all the time?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
