Gnucash 2.3.15 on Windows XP display problem

As a daily user of Gnucash for over two years I am looking forward to 
the rapidly approaching 2.4 stable release.

When testing 2.3.15 I notices that the recently used files part of the 
file menu was displaying the filenames in an odd way.

A screen print of the relevant part of the display is attached.

You will notice that where the file name contains an underscore 
character that character is removed and the next character is 
underlined. The filename in the top border is displayed correctly.

Should I report this as a bug?

I have also noticed that if the file is saved with a new name in xml 
format the filename acquires a .gnucash extension where none existed before.
