GnuCash 2.4.7 fails to download stock quotes on Mac OS 10.7 (Lion)

The only lines I see generated in the trace file right after clicking "Get Quotes" look like:
* 21:07:04 INFO <gnc.account> [xaccAccountGetBalanceInCurrency] baln=-37125029/100
Earlier in the trace file is the line
* 21:06:26 MESSG <gnc.scm> Found Finance::Quote version 1.17
Other than those, I can't correlate any entry in the trace file with the error.
