How to "close" an savings account?

Hi guys,
I really love gnucash, but sometimes it just gets a bit complicated. :) I
would be really thankful if you can help me with my question - here it goes:
I have a *Current Assets -> Savings Account*, where I was noting my monthly
deposits (from Current Assets -> Checking Account). The monthly interests
were noted in *Income -> Interest Income -> Savings Interest*. After 1 year
of monthly deposits my savings account was closed by the bank and the money
was rerouted to my checking account.
So, in gnucash I went to the *Savings Account* and made a *Withdrawal* to
*Current Assets -> Checking Account*. I don't need the savings account
anymore, so all I need to do now is *delete*the Savings Account and
automatically *move *the noted transactions to the Checking Account? I do
not want to affect the Savings Interests account because its useful to know
how much interest I got. Or is there any other way to "close" my Savings
Account?
Thanks and best regards,
Henrik
