Scrub Lots and Capital Gains

John,

According to the Motley Fool website (http://www.fool.com/personal-finance/general/2007/04/18/deducting-commissions.aspx) the sales commission is deducted from gains. I thought that's what I said?

You're right about what "net" is. What you got wrong is that capital gains (in the US) are calculated on net.

I'm not going to defend lot scrubbing. I didn't write it and I seldom use it.
