Impossible to connect to mysql database with 2.4.2

This would be weird because on the same system 2.4.0 runs fine. Also
downgrading from 2.4.2 to 2.4.0 makes GnuCash run again. So, I think it is
not the W7 system or hostfile that causes the problems, it is the 2.4.2
version. Or am I making a jump too far here?
