2.4.0 Windows version and using shared folders

Hello,

I've been using for a long time a Windows shared folder (mapped to a network
drive) for storing GnuCash XML file, so as to use Gnucash both at my desk
and with my netbook.
The new 2.4.0 version (and so the 2.4.2 version) doesn't seem to allow
accessing a XML file on such a way. Is this a bug or an intended feature?
