Did you reconcile the previous statement? If so, then you changed a reconciled transaction and you'll have to find and fix it. If not, well, then you have to reconcile all previous statements.

Note that this could be a symptom of having accidentally opened a backup file (in 2.2.9 they have an "xac" suffix). Have a look in your accounts directory and see if you have files in the form foo.date.xac.date.xac.
