In double entry bookkeeping the place where transactions are kept in 
chronological order is called the "journal". You've actually seen what a 
journal entry looks like (for a single transaction) if you have done 
"split" transactions.

Didn't you see listed among the reports one for the journal? Like with 
most reports you use "report options" to set a date range.
