Redo setup and get a navigation window where I can open my gnucash file. Dozens of crash reports in Console referencing gconfd-2. Eventually I can make entries and save the document. Quit and next time I start Gnucash I go through the same process again. I can start gnucash from the command line and it throws errors about stale NFS locks and ORBIT but also eventually works after I navigate to the data file. Roll back to 2.4.5 did not work; application will no longer start. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that it's related to the new (in 2.4.6) use of a launchd-compatible version of dbus, which is too bad because it does afford a rather less kludgy control.
Can you attach one of the crash reports, either to an email or a bug report?
As for rolling back to 2.4.5, delete ~/Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session and you should be OK.
