You should have no problem if you simply download the dmg file from the Gnucash site. Just be sure to look at the readme files and follow them, since the file structure for Mac OS X changed between the versions. If I recall correctly, there's a utility to ensure that Finance::Quote gets set up again, and there's another utility to get the reports moved to a Mac-friendlier spot.

That being said, a number of people have reported trouble with 2.4.6, and have recommended using 2.4.5 until 2.4.7 comes out (which may be as soon as this week).
