Set up a stock account?

Ah. Okay. If you look at this page, the phrase "you must create a new Gnucash file" is prominent. However, the context should make it clear that this is necessary *if you want to use the pre-defined investment account hierarchy*. The next section describes how to add these accounts manually, as Derek noted.
 
I suspect that this section could be made clearer. I have submitted bug 663208 (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=663208) as a start on changing this to be clearer. If you have any further suggestions, let us know; it's always helpful to have this sort of feedback.
