That's a second problem?

You can't open THIS particular HTML file (the result of the export) or 
you can't open any HTML file? If the former, how did you try opening the 
file? The purpose of file extensions is to make the connection to a 
default application for that type automatic. When you did the export you 
assigned a name to the file. You made sure that the name you chose had 
extension .html?
