Cannot See the digits to the left of hundreds

I want to move the vertical heading separator between the 'transfer'
and 'description' columns to the left so there will be sufficient room
in the 'deposit,' 'withdrawel' and 'balance' columns that I can see
all the digits but when I move that line it just jumps back when I
release it. Trying to change it by moving other column width causes
unpredictable things to happen. This on a netbook using XP.
