ERROR MESSAGE - NO SUITABLE BACKEND WAS FOUND FOR FILE

I copied my gnucash file (several times) to external drives. I then changed
from Ubuntu to Linux Mint 11. I installed gnucash 2.4.2 but got the error
message cannot parse url or something close to that. I uninstalled 2.4.2 and
installed 2.4.7. Then I got the error message "No suitable backend was found
for file...".
The original file was created in 2.3.x, using a SQLite backend. I saw the
postings about an SQL problem with Windows, but nothing about Linux.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Joel
