Where are preferences on Mac?

It's a hidden folder (all folders whose name starts with period are 
hidden by default in MacOSX).  One way to see these and copy them is to 
install the free program TinkerTool from 
<http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html>.  This program lets you 
modify a hidden preference of the Finder that controls whether it shows 
hidden files and folders.  It's also possible to change this preference 
using the "defaults" command in Terminal, but if you are willing to use 
Terminal it's easier to just copy the folder there.
