New install in Suse 64bit gone awry

Hi tjoen,
Thanks for your reply. I looked for the link but could not find it. I
remember a little tool called "symlinks" which would list all of the
symlinks in the machine. I used to use it when I had Palm Pilots, but I
can't seem to invoke it, and I cant clearly remember how it went,
something like this?
#symlinks -aR -a is for all and R is for recursive
doesn't work anymore. In fact it seems the symlinks command is no
longer used.
But there is no slib anything in /usr/share/guile/1.8/ and no links
listed in /usr/share/slib/
Because the install media I used for Suse 12.1 on both machines is
exactly the same for the rebuild I cannot understand why a previously
perfect result on both machines is now so flawed on both machines.
If I copy the .gconf file from my backup will it break a reconfigured
setup, or should I just get a part of it and copy it across?
