I read in another thread that the cause of your problem was some interaction 
between gpg4win. Glad you could fix it.

I just want to add in this thread that there's another known problem on 
Windows that could affect you. If your display settings are set to 16 bit, 
GnuCash won't run. Most people have their display settings set to 24 or 32 
bit, but if you connect remotely to another machine (via Remote Desktop), this 
connection is by default 16 bits. Just something to be aware of if you are 
working with remote connections. This has been reported as a bug in the 
GnuCash bugtracker [1], but is more likely a bug in gtk.
