Hi,
[Value] [has debits or credits] [equal to] 0.00 is truly powerful as it
will find every transaction that has any line containing the value 0.00
and meets the other criteria of the search. If started from the chart
of accounts, that would be every transaction in the file having a line
containing the value 0.00.
Conversely, if started from the register of the account named 'My
Checking', it will find all transactions with the value 0.00 in a line
that is assigned to the account 'My Checking', but it will miss
transactions in that register that have a line containing the value 0.00
assigned to any other account, unless the transaction also has the value
0.00 assigned to account 'My Checking'.
You can limit the search to debits or credits only, which essentially
means only transactions containing the value 0.00 in the left column or
right column resp. (Refer to the Tutorial and Concepts guide for
clarification of what that means in the various different account types.)
The Results register is always shown in the Transaction Journal view so
all lines are visible. Obviously, transactions are always complete in
the results register display, so all of the companion lines of
transactions that may not meet the search criteria also clutter up the
results display. There may be only one small part of a transaction that
actually meets the search criteria.
Enough of my rambling, have a nice day.
David
