Customer refund

Hi, sorry if this has been discussed, but the list search webpage[1] 
seems broken.

My business operates off of monthly rental invoices.  So i have a 
customer who has been overpaying for several months and has amassed a 
significant credit.  The customer has asked for a refund.  I can't just 
enter a transaction in my checking account because this does not alter 
the A/R nor the Customer Report.  Please let me know how to enter such a 
transaction.  Thanks
