In normal circumstances, you can't close the accounts tab. But due to a bug
[1] in the window logic of GnuCash, you can end up with a window with no
accounts tab in it.
I do agree that in the current GnuCash concept it makes sense to ensure there
is always an accounts tab open somewhere.

different bug, but it does explain as well how you can get into a situation
with no accounts tab open.
