setting up stock non us exchange

I get stock prices from the ASX into GnuCash, but my setup isn't exactly
what IanK describes (though pretty similar).
I have ASX from the drop-down list for Type (I don't think I needed to
type it in, but it was a while ago). I definitely didn't use the
template entry and I have no idea what it does. I just have the plain
3-letter ASX code for the Symbol/abbreviation (i.e. BHP rather than
Ian's BHP.AX). Fraction traded is by default AUD 1/100000. Since ASX
prices are quoted to AUD 1/1000, the default is fine. I use Australian
Stock Exchange, AU rather than Yahoo Europe for my single quote source,
but that probably doesn't matter. I have Time zone set to Use local time.
I think you also have to make corresponding entries in the Price Editor
and set the type of price you want (Bid/Ask/Last). You should be able to
select your securities there from the Security dropdown.
I can confirm that BHP closed at 34.970 on Friday 17 Mar (from
www.ASX.com.au)
It was pretty straight-forward to set up IIRC. I use this for actual
holdings, rather than what I assume was just a test for IanK.
Good luck!
