Split entry in Credit account ends up as rebate in expense account

I tried to enter some charges in my Credit Card account as charges. I 
listed each of the split in the appropriate expense account. Basically 
it was a hotel bill and I split room, meals, taxes, etc. However the 
amounts got posted to the Expense accounts as rebates not as an expense. 
I cannot figure out what I did wrong. Thanks in advance for any help 
provided. I am using Gnucash 2.4.6
