I presume you're using .TO and .V for the exchanges.  When I run it with 
canada, it seems to be fine (current data, correct currency), if 
painfully slow.  Mind you, I tried only 3 stocks.  What is your locale 
setting for currency?  Which version of GnuCash (I'm using r21973)?
