He should go to Apple Menu>About this Mac, and in the About this Mac 
panel, if in the line beside Processor, it says Intel somewhere, 
download the Intel, if it doesn't say Intel (probably PPC if not Intel), 
then he should download the other one. It will be a fairly old Mac (2006 
or earlier) if it's not Intel.

sort of thing he'll see if it's an Intel Mac.
