Unfortunately this is 100% an OpenSuse packaging problem and there is
nothing that the GnuCash team can do for you here.  If you're being so
anguished about this then I recommend you choose a better distribution.
Any of Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat, or Gentoo (amongst many many
others) work quite well.
