Derek Atkins is a past core developer of Gnucash, and I would heed his words about load times for SQL back ends. You might also want to read some of his other comments about using the SQL back ends over the last year.

Sorry for the delay, gmail decided to put the last email in the spam folder.

I generally close all of the windows before I close my database.  Is
there anything I can run on the database to check an see if it has an
errors that could be causing the long load times with this new
version?
