Chris,
My guess would be Maf's second point: that you are opening a backup copy, rather than the main data file (regardless of OS or version) .

Boilerplate questions: which version of GC, which OS? Do you mean that all
the data you've entered since August has gone missing, or just a selection of
days at the end of Aug?
Are you using XML as the data store back end or one of the SQL databases?
What is the filename - if it has some datestamps in it, maybe you've opened a
backup by mistake at some point?
