'No such file or directory' error while trying to save a report

I'm not sure. I never tried this with an absolute path. Perhaps there is 
an issue internally when converting from windows notation to gtk notation.

With the changed path, did gnucash create directories in
D:\MAINDOCS\my_configs\GnuCash ?
Is there for example a .gnucash, .gconf, .gconfd directory in there now ?

And what happens if you use double backslashes, like this:
HOME=D:\\MAINDOCS\\my_configs\\GnuCash
