I run Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I was running RHEL 5 on a 32-bit
machine, 9 years old, when it bit the dust and coughed out a little
smoke after power returned wnen Storm Sandy left and the power company
turned on the power again after 6 1/2 days.

I replaced the machine with a 64-bit one and put GnuCash 2.4.11 on it. I
had been running something older on it; possibly
gnucash-1.8.8-0.9.i386.rpm. It converted quite well to run on RHEL 6 64-bit.

Red Hat do not support gnucash, so I did need to get a lot of RPMs to
get it to load and run. This was tedious and slow, but not difficult.
ldd is your friend. YMMV.
